The Centre is
conducting a Second
Mini-Workshop on “DNA for
Justice” on March 27,
2008; specifically
designed to introduce the
local judiciary officials,
prosecuting and defense
attorneys to a better
understanding of the DNA
typing process and its
usefulness. The workshop
will further highlight its
effectiveness in
investigating crimes and how
it affects the overall
approach to finding the
facts, and assisting the
clients, the litigants and
the law enforcement
officials who appear in
court. Participation in the
workshop by civil judges,
magistrates, governmental
officials, and private
attorneys will greatly help
to promote the uses of DNA
technology as an effective
tool to convict the guilty
and absolve the innocent.
Several
senior advocates, law makers
and judicial officers will
engage in a brain storming
session to discuss the
admissibility and
requirements for DNA testing
in a background of the
existing national laws.
Participation by US partner in these
discussions and sharing of
experience will help
to further strengthen the
fact finding process by
distilling the principal lessions of over ten years
of litigation in US courts.
Honourable Judiciary
Officials and Attorneys are
encouraged to participate in
the proposed mini workshop.
Venue
The
workshop will be convened on
the campus of CAMB/CEMB,
